Reading a novel using an e-reader seems to be a logical choice. But graphics novels would obviously look better with a larger and colored screen devices such as a tablet.
Here we will list the major differences between an eBook reader (like a Kindle Paperwhite) and a tablet (like a Fire HD 8):
1. LCD screen (Fire HD 8) vs e-Ink screen (Paperwhite)
The Fire HD 8 has a LCD screen which you use almost daily in the laptops or LCD TVs. It’s easy to read but a long reading time may give you eye-strains (some people may not experience it though). Whereas, the e-Ink screen on e-readers is nothing like LCD, you would find the experience of reading on it more comfortable as it is like reading on paperback books.
The LCD screen can also display colored images while the e-Ink screen used in Paperwhite can only display black and white (16 gray levels) one. Last but not the least, the 8″ LCD screen on Fire HD 8 is much bigger than the Paperwhite’s 6″ screen. The larger screen is a definite advantage in reading graphics novels, and the screens of popular e-readers are still limited to a small 6 inch.
2. Battery life
The battery life on Kindle Paperwhite is around 6 weeks (half hour daily reading, Wi-Fi off and light setting at 10), which is almost like a 21 hours of continuous use. Whereas, you get around 8 hours continuous usage on the Amazon Fire HD 8.
3. Features:
On the Kindle Paperwhite, you get nearly all features related strictly to reading. Whereas on the Fire HD 8 you can do a lot more. For instance, you can video chat with your friends via Skype, watch movies on Netflix or other sources, listen to audiobooks, music as well as use tons of apps for various purposes.
Can you read Graphic Novels on Kindle e-readers?
As a matter of fact, you can read graphic novels on a Kindle e-reader, but you can only see the images in black and white (16 gray levels). You will be able to recognize the graphics, though it won’t be as enjoyable as on those high resolution color screen tablet like the Fire HD 8. This video will show you the experience on reading comics on the Kindle Paperwhite.
If you want the device specifically for reading graphic novels, you should consider the Fire HD 8.

Will this be able to be read out side? Now I have to be in a shadow
Also can I transfer my other books and downloads on my new one?
For the Kindle Paperwhite, you can read on it under direct sunlight. But for the Fire HD tablet, it’s LCD screen and you’ve to read under shadow too.
But the Kindle Paperwhite can only read some files like Kindle books, PDF, etc. For the Fire HD, it’s a tablet (kind of Android tablet) and you can basically read any books on it.
